I have more than 20 years of experience in technical translation, covering operating and maintenance manuals, service documentation, control interfaces, repair procedures, catalogs and technical specifications. These projects demand particular attention to terminological consistency, units, references, safety warnings and the correspondence between the text, illustrations and physical components.
Translating the words is not enough: the translator must understand how the machine, system or process works in order to explain it accurately in Spanish.
Marketing translation and adaptation
When the aim is to attract, persuade or evoke emotion, linguistic accuracy alone is not always enough. The tone, rhythm and nuances must also be adapted so that the text retains the brand’s personality and connects naturally with its audience.
Throughout my career, I have translated and adapted content across a wide range of channels and media for communications campaigns run by some of the world’s leading companies.
Revision and proofreading
A professional review does more than detect errors: it also identifies every opportunity to make the text clearer, more precise and more natural. My role is to examine the meaning, terminology, grammar, style and structure of a text to identify ambiguities, omissions, inconsistencies and unnatural wording.
I can carry out bilingual reviews by comparing the translation with the original, as well as edit and proofread texts written directly in Spanish. My aim is to improve clarity and fluency without unnecessarily altering the author’s voice. The result is a coherent, accurate document that is ready for publication.
Post-editing and review of AI-generated text
Artificial intelligence can generate highly convincing text, even when it has misinterpreted a sentence, altered a piece of information or invented a relationship that did not exist in the original. Apparent fluency is no guarantee of accuracy.
The work of a good human translator begins precisely where automatic generation ends. The translator compares the text with the original, checks that no information is missing, and reviews the meaning, terminology, tone and consistency. They also detect overly literal translations, artificial phrasing, ambiguities, altered data and wording that does not sound natural to a Spanish reader.
In technical texts, this review requires particular care. A figure, a unit, a warning or the name of a component leaves no room for approximation. Instructions, references, parameters and terminology must therefore be checked, and consistency must be maintained across the document, the interface and all other project materials.
Thanks to my technical and linguistic expertise and my purpose-built quality assurance tools, I can detect errors in meaning, omissions, terminological inconsistencies, altered figures and artificial-sounding expressions.
I do not merely correct visible errors: I reformulate the content whenever necessary to restore the clarity, precision and natural flow it deserves. The result is no longer a machine-generated draft, but a reliable, coherent text that is ready for publication.
Localization
When a product enters a new market, it is not enough for users simply to understand the words; it must also reflect the way they speak, their conventions and familiar cultural references. Localization adapts both the content and the user experience so that the product feels natural in its target market.
The differences between Spain and Mexico provide a good example. In Spain, people say ordenador, teléfono móvil, coche and conducir; in Mexico, the more common terms are computadora, celular, auto and manejar. Forms of address, everyday expressions and the connotations of certain words also differ. A perfectly normal term in Spain may sound strange, comical or even inappropriate to a Mexican reader, and vice versa.
But localization is not simply a matter of replacing computadora with ordenador. It may also be necessary to adapt currencies, number formats, addresses, tax details, legal references, examples, images, payment methods and cultural conventions. An online store designed for Mexico, for example, cannot simply replace pesos with euros to cater to a Spanish audience.
Good localization uses fluent, natural language tailored to the reader’s context.
When localizing software, applications and websites, it is also necessary to consider the available space, the function of each button, variables, labels and the relationship between different screens. Every element must be integrated correctly and use the language that users expect to find.
I localize applications, platforms, websites and interfaces, taking into account space limitations, system conventions and the user experience. I leave the code, variables, labels and placeholders unchanged, and maintain consistent terminology in menus, dialog boxes, messages, alerts and help documentation.
Web design
A website should be visually appealing as well as clear, fast and easy to use. I design websites that present information clearly and guide visitors smoothly through the content, paying close attention to structure, typography, images, navigation and responsiveness across different screen sizes.
My experience as a translator gives me a particular advantage when creating multilingual websites. I can organize the different language versions correctly and maintain a consistent appearance across desktop computers, tablets and cell phones, even when text length varies considerably between languages.
Software and application development
In addition to the services described above, I develop software tools and applications designed to address specific needs. Many of my programs have grown out of real challenges encountered in my translation work: automating repetitive tasks, processing complex formats, comparing versions, managing terminology and detecting errors that are difficult to find manually.
This combination of programming, engineering and professional experience allows me to understand the problem before designing the solution. My aim is to create practical, intuitive and reliable tools that streamline processes, reduce the risk of error and leave more time for tasks that genuinely require human judgment.
